Lauren Mikaela Glenn is an engineer, craftsperson, artist, and designer studying relationships between materials and minds, especially those emerging from processes of making. She brings a scientific understanding of materials to the shops and studios she works in, observing variations in creative processes that arise from differences in materials, approaches to making, and the interactions between makers and materials.
A part of this work is her teaching practice. Currently, she teaches two wood working courses at the Rhode Island School of Design. She has previously developed and taught design courses at The Wheeler School (K-12) in Providence, RI.
Lauren earned her BSE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and her MID in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.
